Stripe connections: faster correctives, disputes you can see, and exact amounts

A card refund gets its corrective at once, disputes and voided credit notes raise a review item, and correctives and shipping add up to the cent.

ChangelogImproved

A set of changes, rolled out between August and mid-September, to what a connected Stripe account produces in BeeL. None of them asks anything of you. They change when a corrective appears, what reaches your review queue, and the amounts on the invoices.

If you reconcile BeeL. against Stripe, the last two highlights are the ones to read.

What else changed

  • A card refund gets its corrective straight away. It used to wait for a later Stripe update that could arrive a day later, or never. It is now issued as soon as the refund has succeeded. A refund is also no longer dropped because the connection was disconnected when it arrived.
  • A dispute raises a review item instead of going unnoticed. If you win it, the item closes on its own and the invoice stands. If you lose it, one item remains, and you decide whether the invoice needs a corrective. BeeL. never issues one for a dispute.
  • Voiding a credit note in Stripe after its corrective was issued raises a review item. The corrective is already numbered and submitted, and voiding the note does not undo it. A voided note that had produced nothing is ignored.
  • A charge above 3,000 € without the customer's NIF can still be invoiced. Generating a draft from the skipped event gives a standard invoice with the recipient left for you to complete. It cannot be issued until it has a NIF (or a foreign identifier) and an address.
  • Shipping that Stripe charged without a tax rate is invoiced at the VAT rate of the sale it belongs to, inside the amount charged, so the total is still exactly what Stripe collected. A sale that mixes rates shares the shipping between them in proportion to each rate's base.
  • A refund's corrective matches the refunded amount to the cent. Refunding 21.00 € of a 121.00 € invoice declares −21.00 €, never −21.01 €.
