Stripe: sales outside the Spanish VAT territory follow the product's tax code, and stop when in doubt
Whether a charge is goods or services now comes from the Stripe product's tax code; unclear cases stop with a retryable TAX_TREATMENT_NEEDS_DATA instead of being issued.
Charges to buyers in the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla or outside the EU no longer get a not-subject invoice from the country alone. Goods or services is read from the tax code of the Stripe product, or from your account's default tax code.
What else changed
- Services to a business outside the EU: standard invoice, not subject by place of supply. Services to a consumer outside the EU: the charge stops.
- Goods to the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla or outside the EU: exempt export, only with a physical shipping address in that same territory. Without one, the charge stops.
- Electronic services to a business in the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla with 0 % from Stripe: standard invoice, not subject.
- What stops: no tax code, an ambiguous one, goods and services mixed, a customer country different from the charge's, and similar doubts.
failure_reasonisTAX_TREATMENT_NEEDS_DATA: fix the data in Stripe and retry. What BeeL. cannot reflect keepsUNSUPPORTED_STRIPE_TAX_TREATMENT.
Where to go next
Issuing or scheduling a standard invoice checks the recipient's name and address
A standard invoice whose recipient lacks a tax ID, name or address is rejected with `422` when you issue or schedule it, saved customer included.
Stripe: the connection's threshold decides simplified invoices again, and a buyer's NIF data never comes from the card
Without complete fiscal data, a charge above the connection's simplified threshold (400 € by default) is no longer issued: it waits as a draft standard invoice.
