When it happens

You tried to change the code of a series that has already numbered at least one invoice (numbering_locked is true). Drafts do not count: they have no number yet.

How to fix it

Leave the series as it is and create a new series with the code you want. name and description can still be changed.

Do not retry. The outcome is final: sending the same request again gets the same answer.
