When it happens

The account is on the API plan, billed per NIF, with no price agreed with sales, which covers one NIF self-service. error.details.reason says which rule applied: SECOND_NIF when the request would add a second company, in TEST or PROD, to an account with exactly one; LIVE_WITH_MULTIPLE_NIFS when it switches a NIF on in Live and the account has two or more active companies. Nothing was created or switched on, and no checkout is opened.

How to fix it

Not a hard error: send the account holder to error.details.salesUrl to agree a per-NIF price. Once sales sets it up, the same request goes through.

Retry

Not as is: the same request fails the same way. Fix the cause described above, then send the request again, under a new Idempotency-Key if the body changed.
